The Sciton Micropeel laser is a 2940 nm Erbium:Yag laser with advanced technology that allows the physician to precisely control the depth of the laser beam penetration into the skin through a computer-controlled scanner. Treatment depths range from 10 microns, which is similar to a glycolic acid peel, up to 120 microns, for a full resurfacing effect. In the laser peel mode, treatment is limited to the epidermis (10-50 microns) and requires minimal downtime for the patient. A series of three to six laser peels is usually performed every two weeks. Conditions that can be treated include fine lines, wrinkles, dark rings under the eyes, and acne scars. Deeper lines and wrinkles can be treated with laser resurfacing, which requires 5-7 days of downtime. A single treatment can obtain the desired result.
