Sometimes your earlobes may become split, torn, or stretched from an injury or from wearing excessively heavy earrings. If this occurs, our Board Certified plastic surgeon can help repair these problems.
An earlobe split can occur from the weight of your earrings and can create a hole or a split that is too large to hold earrings anymore. If your earlobe has torn all the way through, we can repair that by removing the already healed skin and then suturing the ear lobe back together. If you have earlobes that are abnormally large, we can also remedy this problem and give your earlobes a better aesthetic appearance.
There is minimal scarring with earlobe repair; oftentimes it is not even noticeable. However, you must exercise caution if you choose to get your ears pierced again. The scar from your procedure will be weaker than the surrounding skin, so you can’t get the piercing done in the same place as your previous piercing. New York plastic surgeon can perform the piercing if you’d prefer.
