FemiLift™ Frequently Asked Questions – Manhattan Dermatologist

Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery
for NYC, Manhattan & Worldwide

Due to natural causes like age and pregnancy, many women will experience laxity in their vagina. While this can sometimes be remedied by performing simple exercises, there are times when exercise just isn't enough. If this is the case, our Manhattan, NY dermatologist, Dr. Bruce Katz, can perform a simple procedure using the FemiLift™ laser to tighten your vaginal walls.

Below are some common questions that we're asked about the FemiLift:

What Does the FemiLift™ Do?

The FemiLift™ laser is a probe-shaped device. Once inserted into the vagina, it sends laser energy into the vaginal tissues. The laser energy heats and tightens the tissues while also stimulating collagen production which gives your vagina its tight and youthful feel. This helps improve natural lubrication and alleviates urinary incontinence as well. Here is a video that shows how the FemiLift™ works:

Will the Procedure Hurt?

The FemiLift™ procedure is FDA-approved, done without anesthesia and requires no downtime. In fact, it can be done on your lunch hour and you can return right back to work. The actual probe will feel no different than any other gynecologic tool and the laser will not create any pain. Most patients claim it feels slightly warm, but there is not pain associated with the FemiLift™.

How Many Times Do I Need to Have the Procedure Done?

The FemiLift™ procedure takes between 15-20 minutes. Usually, three treatments, each one month apart is ideal; however, depending on laxity, more treatments may be necessary.

Can I Have Sex After the Procedure?

After a FemiLift™ treatment, our New York dermatologist recommends waiting 3-4 days before having intercourse and also recommends avoiding using tampons during these days.
