Katrina McDaniel is a board-certified Physician Assistant and brings a background in engineering, orthopedics and medical & cosmetic dermatology to her work at JUVA Skin & Laser Center. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, she was a National Merit Scholar graduating from the University of Arizona with her Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering. While there Katrina was one of six students chosen nationwide to receive an internship to attend King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Bangkok, Thailand where she developed a Nickel-free Titanium-based alloy for use in biomedical applications.
Her research in polymers led her to receive a full-ride scholarship to the University of Kansas to pursue a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. She and a team of colleagues were granted a patent for developing a medical device that prevents the spread of blood-borne pathogens by eliminating syringe contamination. Her work with the Kansas Knee Simulator piqued her interest in orthopedics, and she was recruited by Zimmer Biomet to attend their six-month trauma training program in Warsaw, Indiana. Her work as a trauma sales specialist for both Zimmer Biomet and DePuy Synthes in Long Island and Manhattan influenced her decision to become more involved in direct patient care and become a Physician Assistant.
Katrina earned her Master of Medical Science degree from Arcadia University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her clinical rotations in both dermatology and plastic & reconstructive surgery solidified her desire to practice in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Katrina is a knowledgeable and compassionate healthcare provider who believes in the importance of listening to the patient and tailoring the treatment plan according to his/her unique situation.
