A photofacial is a skin treatment that is performed using a light-based technology to eliminate brown spots and broken capillaries, in addition to boosting collagen. Photofacials can be an excellent treatment option for the right patient. Your results will depend on your skin type and the specific problem you’re treating.
Types of Photofacials
There are two main types of facials:
1. LED (Light-Emitting Diode) – This technology uses a narrow spectrum of light to stimulate the growth of collagen in your skin, helping restore a younger, healthier-looking appearance. Apart from increasing collagen production, the LED laser can neutralize free radicals, reduce sun damage, improve fine lines, reduce pores, minimize redness, and improve the overall appearance of your complexion. LED facials can also be used to eliminate acne-causing bacteria. This type of facial is painless and carries no risk of burning.
2. IPL (Intense-Pulsed Light) – This technology works by applying a bright blast of light at a high energy level to your skin, and is used for treating brown spots, spider veins, facial redness, and broken capillaries.
Getting the Most Out of Your Photofacial
A facial is usually not a one-time treatment. We suggest multiple sessions for effective results, with one or two weeks spaced between them. Our providers may recommend facials in conjunction with another treatment to help you achieve the best possible results. We are dedicated to helping you develop a comprehensive skin care regimen to rejuvenate your appearance and ensure your results last.
