Aphrodite Lip Treatment at JUVA Skin & Laser Center

Chapped lips aren’t just annoying — they’re also uncomfortable and can look unattractive. No matter what the cause of your chapped lips may be, we can help make your dry, cracked lips a thing of the past with the Aphrodite lip treatment from JUVA Skin & Laser Center.

What is the Aphrodite lip treatment?

Dry lips are a problem for many people, especially in the cold New York winters. This is why leading New York dermatologist Dr. Bruce Katz, Director of JUVA Skin & Laser Center, has introduced the new Aphrodite lip treatment. In a quick in-office visit, you can get rid of your chapped lips with a one-time treatment. Dr. Katz is the first to use cosmetic injectables for more than plumping.

How the Aphrodite lip treatment works

The Aphrodite lip treatment is a one-time injection of Restylane® Silk hyaluronic acid into the lips, which stops dryness. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture and hydrates tissue. An additional bonus is that the treatment can slightly plump your lips as well.

This patient was experiencing dry, scaly lips before treatment. Immediately following one Aphrodite lip treatment, she saw glistening and hydrated results throughout her upper and bottom lip area. No lipstick was applied for this photo.

Aphrodite lip treatment details

When you arrive for your treatment, your lips will be numbed with a topical anesthetic. Restylane Silk is then administered with micro-droplets into the lips with a fine needle. The treatment is not painful because of the topical anesthetic. The treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes. There is no downtime at all, and you will be left with fuller, more moisturized lips.

Not only does this look and feel better; your lipstick and lip liner will be much easier to apply. (However, you should not apply anything to your lips until 20 minutes after the treatment.) Aphrodite lip treatment results last nine months to one year.

FAQ

Why does hyaluronic acid work?

It works because of its ability to retain moisture and hydrate tissue. Your lips become dry or cracked because of the lack of moisture. Hyaluronic acid improves your skin’s moisture content as well as strengthens your skin’s outer layers. With hyaluronic acid, your lips’ surface feel and appear softer, smoother and plumper which is directly associated with great health and youth.

There are several injections needed. The number depends on the size and condition of your lips.

Are there any side effects?

There may be occasional minor bruising, which resolves in a day or two.

Is there any lip discoloration?

No, but some patients may experience slight bruising depending on your lips.

How should patients prepare for treatment?
