What Causes Spider Veins?
Your veins are designed to carry blood throughout your body and back to the heart. However, if your vein doesn't have the pressure to carry blood back to the heart to be re-oxygenated, the blood will sit and coagulate in the vein, causing your vein to turn darker in color. When this happens, you may develop small blue or purple spider veins or even larger varicose veins which may protrude from the skin.
How Does Sclerotherapy Treat Spider Veins?
Our Manhattan dermatologist can treat your spider veins with several of the laser therapy options we have here, but has also found that sclerotherapy can be very effective. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a chemical that will cause your vein to contract and become scarred internally. When this happens, your body will determine that the vein is no longer able to function and will naturally let it die and be removed from your body.
Sclerotherapy is a simple and easy way for our NYC dermatologist to help you be free from the embarrassment of a large, dark vein showing. Oftentimes, spider veins form on the back of the calves so they, unfortunately, show when you're wearing shorts or a bathing suit. This simple procedure can help rid your body of those unwanted veins and help you love the way you look.
If you're ready to take the first step toward being rid of spider veins and varicose veins, please contact JUVA Skin & Laser Center today by filling out the form on this page or calling us at (888) 610-3133.
